Seven pupils at

the Baroness Patricia Scotland Learning
Resource Centre
The
library is at the heart of any school.
At Frederick Bremer pupils are encouraged to learn independently and are
provided with a state of the art Learning Resource Centre (LRC).
Since
the school’s opening in September the LRC has been a huge success, encouraging
both pupils and staff to include every opportunity to enhance the use of ICT in
learning. The LRC’s 90 computers have
proven themselves essential to all subjects across the curriculum and provided
students with excellent ICT access. When
students have chosen to not use computers they have gladly taken the
opportunity to have some time with one of the 7000 books and snuggle down in a
sofa or bean bag. Indeed, the LRC’s
purpose does not end with formal education because it provides a place for
quiet reflection and an opportunity for pupils to socialise in extra-curricular
activities such as board games, chess or knitting.
Pupils
are proud of the LRC at Fredrick Bremer so Year 7 were given
the opportunity to select a new name for the centre by submitting work on
inspiring local people. Unsurprisingly,
many Year 7 students chose to study 2004’s “Peer of the Year” Patricia Scotland. As the first ever female Attorney General
(Chief legal adviser to the government) Baroness Scotland is the perfect local person
to inspire excellence and achievement in young people. Frederick Bremer School is therefore proud to
announce the official opening of The
Baroness Patricia Scotland Learning Resource Centre on: Monday
6th July. |
